Unhappy with the non-release of his film ‘S Durga’, at the Indian International Festival (IIFI), director Sunal Kumar Shashidharan said that this incident has proved that it is going to destroy those things in power. Can not go to any extent that they do not like.
On Wednesday, one day after the IFFI was over, Shashidharan wrote on Facebook, “I am not completely unhappy. Rather, I am happy that my film has helped many people to understand it, who asks if the union comes to power, then what is the problem? It has been proved that those who are in power can go to any extent to destroy anything that they do not like.’
Shashidharan further said, “They can misuse the law for their meanings or ignore the judiciary.” They can assure their colleagues that nothing will happen to them even if they do not follow the courts. In fact this is a very dangerous message.’
Let me tell you that the film was banned on the show ‘S Durga’ and ‘Nude’, after which Shashidharan appealed to the Kerala High Court. According to IANS, the court directed the version of the film which was displayed before the IFFI jury to screening the film festival. But in spite of this, the Central Board of Film Censors banned the issue of the name of the film on the last day of the festival and stopped it from its release.
The director also said, “I have seen many people who openly accept that they are supporters of this government, but in the last two-three days, the ministry of the ministry is very disappointed and unhappy with the game played against them.”
